Texas Food Truckin’ Fest debuted some new food truck faces
What’s da Scoop, an Austin based food truck and the newest food truck to hit the streets of DFW, served old fashioned hand scooped ice cream to a large turnout this past weekend at the Texas Food Truckin’ Fest in Arlington. As the sun shone down on those in attendance at the Texas Food Truckin Fest at Ranger Ballpark, people turned to the food trucks to “kill the heat with a bite to eat”. In particular, What’s da Scoop, our newest food truck, witnessed first hand what the DFW food truck community was all about. People drove into Arlington from all over our surrounding DFW areas, to not only show their support for our Rangers, but for the food trucks as well. As festival participants waited in line for the trucks, I couldn’t help but think how many people showed up to this event.
The festival was under much speculation, as past DFW food truck festivals attracted low numbers in attendance. However, the Texas Food Truckin’ Fest was different. With over 35 food trucks present, live music, bouncy houses to keep the children entertained, and the Rangers game later in the evening, people showed up in droves. On Saturday, the turn out was even larger. Some food trucks had to roll up their windows, due to a shortage in food supply. It is speculated that the festival attracted around 3,000 people.
The festival also awarded the best food truck, which Empanada Armada claimed. Undoubtedly, the Texas Food Truckin’ Fest was a HUGE success and new food trucks, like What’s da Scoop experienced what the DFW food truck culture is all about. Congrats to Empanada Armada and thanks to all of those who supported our local food trucks and attended the Texas Food Truckin’ Fest.

Guess what company just made their DFW food truck debut???
Guess who just made their debut and have rolled onto the streets of Dallas and Ft. Worth? The newest addition to the local DFW food trucks is a California based restaurant and none other than fast food chain, Jack in the Box. Some have questioned their arrival and some have even asked, Why? Well, the company considers the DFW area as one of The Box’s largest marketplace and will use the food truck to serve as advertisment for the company.
Brian Luscomb, a spokesman from Jack in the Box believes, “The ‘Burger Truck’ is a great way to promote our brand”.
And, promoting the brand is exactly what the Jack in the Box truck did. On Friday, the truck was located in the Six Flags parking lot, handing out burgers for the Rangers game.
Over the next few months, at each of the following North Texas locations, workers will be handing out free Jumbo Jack burgers with cheese, gifts and coupons. Yes, you heard me right…free! The Jack in the Box food truck will serve as a promotional move for the company to get the word out on the DFW streets about new menu items.
The Jack in the Box truck will serve at upcoming event locations including, The American Airlines Center for the Bon Jovi concert on April 11 from 9:30pm until midnight and on April 20 at Southern Methodist University campus from 9 a.m to noon for SMU Founders Day.
